Natural Solutions: Salt Caves and Wellness

Salt caves have long been used to help with respiratory conditions such as bronchitis and asthma, as well as common coughs and colds, because of the salt’s drying effects.  Salt caves have also been shown to help with migraines, skin conditions, arthritis, and the immune system.  Now Rising Wellness Center is bringing this treatment to Aiken.

In February 2018, Rising Wellness Center will open an indoor salt cave in its office.  This room will have its own ventilation as well as moisture control for maximum benefit.  With zero-gravity chairs and salt crystals lining the floor and most of the walls, you can fully immerse yourself in the healing atmosphere. Both private and group sessions will be available.

In addition to the salt cave, Rising Wellness offers unique chiropractic care with Dr. Jay Rising.   Dr. Jay is a second-generation chiropractor who takes a broader approach to adjustments than just simple spinal manipulation; he asks his clients to look at what else is happening in their lives that may be impacting their health and healing.  Over the past 30 years, he has learned that our physical wellness is intimately connected with our emotional and spiritual wellness.  “All three are important and affect one another,” he said.

For Dr. Jay and his wife Kim, owners of Rising Wellness Center, wellness is not just about using one modality to reach wellness.  Their approach incorporates more natural and holistic methods.  The goal is to work towards balance.  Sometimes this includes providing energy healing treatments along with supplements and nutrition advice.  Kim also offers mindfulness training, both individually and in groups.  Rising Wellness also offers cranio-sacral therapy and massage therapy, including a specialized massage for cancer patients.

Dr. Jay and Kim work hard to build trust with their clients.  Their philosophy is that you have to line up your actions with your belief system and how you want to live your life, professionally and personally.  They do not recommend treatments that they themselves haven’t tried or would be willing to use.  They spend time listening to their clients to fully understand their needs and provide a caring presence (each session with Dr. Jay is a very atypical 30 minutes).  Over the years, they have learned together and work together and feel they make a good team that can address the full needs of their clients.  “It’s fun to be in an environment where we love what we do and it’s beneficial to the client at the same time,” they said.

You can reach Kim or Dr. Jay at Rising Wellness Center, 220 Silver Bluff Rd. in Aiken.  Their website is www.risingwellnesscenter.net and they are also on Facebook.
