Aiken Choral Society will present its 5th Annual Madrigal Dinner, sponsored by The Reserve Club at Woodside Plantation, on Friday, December 8. Doors at The Reserve Club open at 6:30 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m.
The Renaissance yuletide madrigal feast provides entertainment and merriment while guests enjoy four courses at the Reserve Club Ballroom. The chorus will be in full Renaissance garb, singing
music from the 16th century and earlier. The event also features the Aiken Community Playhouse Youth Wing, Andrew Siders as court jester, and Carl Purdy and David Brown, instrumentalists.
Artistic Director Dr. Maureen Simpson’s sense of humor guarantees a few chuckles and surprises. One example of the songs is “Pastyme with Good Company” – King Henry VIII will be present.
To purchase tickets, visit website www.aikenchoralsociety.org or stop by the Aiken County Visitors Center at 133 Laurens Street. Earlybird tickets are $70 if purchased before November 22, and then increase to $80 if purchased between November 23 and December 3.
