Torque Release Technique is a chiropractic method that “stimulates your nervous system in such a way that it will release and reduce tension, assisting your body to self-correct.” Aiken native Dr. Blair Bradley, DC, owner of Access Chiropractic & Wellness on Waterloo Street, is the only chiropractor in Aiken known to this columnist to offer Torque Release Technique.
Dr. Bradley said that what sets the Torque Release Technique apart from other chiropractic adjustment methods is that Torque Release is very specifically designed to reduce tension in the spinal cord and spinal column. Tension causes the nervous system to stop regulating itself correctly. The adjustment restores communication between the brain and body, reducing the tension and aiding the nervous system in returning to optimal functioning.
As he works, Dr. Bradley uses alignment testing and kinesiology techniques while continually checking in with your body to see where it is out of alignment. This means he finds and treats the highest priority problem first before working to the lower issues. Otherwise, he said, the problem will keep coming back.
Dr. Bradley’s goal is to stay focused on helping his patients by tailoring their care. For him, that means keeping it simple and using techniques that can help the body heal itself. “Something is just not right in my middle back,” I told him. He always examines the alignment of the entire spinal system from tailbone to head, but with me, he spent extra time to find that I had several ribs out of place. Then he restored them to their correct positioning. Now everything feels “right,” and movement is much easier and pain-free.
Torque Release Technique is a very gentle method of adjustment, though some areas may require more in-depth adjustments. This makes it ideal for those who have had spinal or orthopedic surgery. Throughout the session, the chiropractor continually checks your entire spinal support system to achieve optimal balance and alignment. But the beauty of torque release is that it doesn’t apply only to the spine. Any joint can be adjusted.
Access Chiropractic & Wellness also offers complementary pain treatment therapies such as transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), therapeutic massage, Standard Process supplements, and orthopedic inserts and customized fittings.
I have another appointment today with Dr. Bradley, and I can’t wait for the sense of freedom in movement that I always feel after his adjustments.
Dr. Blair Bradley can be reached at 151 Waterloo Street or 803-649-7004.
